A consultation service to help people apply design styles to their homes.
Opportunity Identified: A user asks, "My apartment has 4 white walls, white furniture, metal kitchenware, and a single framed painting in the middle of a wall. What type of interior design is it?" This highlights a common need: understanding their current living space's aesthetic before they can even think about implementing new styles. Many people live in spaces that don't fit neatly into defined "styles" and need help identifying what they have and how it relates to what they might want.
Product Suggestion: "Visual Style Analyzer & Recommender" (App/Web Service)
This service would allow users to:
- Upload Photos: Users can upload pictures of their current room(s).
- AI Analysis of Current Space: The AI analyzes the photos to identify:
- Key furniture pieces and their general style (e.g., "modern minimalist sofa," "traditional wooden bookshelf").
- Dominant colors, textures, and materials.
- Overall layout and clutter levels.
- It then attempts to classify the current space, even if it's "eclectic," "transitional," "neutral/undefined," or a mix of unintentional elements.
- Define Desired Style (Optional Integration): Users can link results from a style quiz, select from a list of styles, or upload inspiration images for their desired aesthetic.
- Personalized "Style Bridge" Report & Roadmap: The service generates a report that:
- Explains the characteristics of their current space.
- Highlights which existing items align with their desired style (if one is specified).
- Suggests concrete, actionable steps to transition towards the desired style. This could include:
- Keep/Repurpose: "Your neutral sofa is a great base for [Desired Style]."
- Small Changes: "Add throw pillows with [pattern/texture] and a [material] rug to introduce [Desired Style] elements."
- Key Item Swaps: "Consider replacing your metal coffee table with a [wooden/rattan] one to better fit [Desired Style]."
- Decluttering/Arrangement Tips: "Group similar items" or "Create a focal point around X."
- Specific, shoppable (where feasible via affiliates) item suggestions across different budget points (e.g., "Budget-friendly option for a Japandi lamp," "Mid-range Boho chic rug").
- Color palette adjustments.
Expected Benefits:
- Solves a Core Problem: Directly addresses the user's need to understand their current space and how to improve it or move towards a specific style.
- Actionable & Personalized: Goes beyond generic style quizzes by providing tailored advice based on the user's actual belongings and space.
- Accessible & Affordable: Offers a much lower barrier to entry than hiring a professional interior designer, appealing to renters and homeowners on a budget.
- Empowering: Helps users make informed decisions and take small, manageable steps to improve their living environment.
- Revenue Potential:
- Freemium model (basic analysis free, detailed roadmap/shoppable links as premium).
- Affiliate marketing through product recommendations.
- Partnerships with furniture and home decor retailers.
- Data insights on evolving trends and consumer preferences (anonymized and aggregated).
- Reduces "Analysis Paralysis": Provides a clear starting point and roadmap for users overwhelmed by the prospect of redecorating.

[OC] Popularity of interior design styles on different continents

I'm a creator of a free interior design style quiz. I made it a couple of years ago and since then it was used in more than 180 countries.
The data is basically how often the style wins in t

Proving that taste truly is an international language. Keep up the excellent work!

I think the biggest different is in price of implementing, but yes, seem like a good combo!

My guess is that these are results of the quiz, basically where people would love to live, but reality can be different. I rent, so I can't really change anything.

Interior styles are abstract, and have cultural, economic, historic or social context. Common apartments rarely fall into any of the styles. Styles are usually used as a template people would

Most probably, but I don't remember it was happening before on Reddit. This post is reupload, as I fixed the data and I uploaded pngs now instead of jpgs and they still look blurry.
What emo

Hm, can be what is going on. I'm on new reddit. On mobile pictures look ok

This really matches up with my experience of living 30 years in Mexico. I would say that in my artsy-fartsy social circle of yuppies, Boho Chic and mid-century modern are BY FAR the preferred

I’m going to guess I live in Quiet Luxury. Except for the old recliner I have in the man cave.

I don't know what I did wrong, the screenshots I have are crystal clear, but after the upload they became this and I cannot reupload or do anything 😞
But on the webpage it looks ok [https:/

I store basic quiz data in Clickhouse database and I have a very rough visualization of what I shared. I thought it might be an interesting information, so I build an infographics HTML page t

Also on PC, images look perfectly clear using old Reddit for me, but blurry when using new Reddit
I don't recommend using new Reddit, as much as they are shilling it

cool, but it's a lil bit blurry.

Hm, just checked on my old Samsung and looks same as on desktop. But thanks for reporting anyway, hope it's not big of a deal

maybe due to compression, it's beautiful bro, but I have a lil suggestion ~ the emojis 😅 you can use something else instead of them or just make them a little bit small.
u/john_wickest
It is, but still cool to see, that there are preferences and people are still different.
u/john_wickest
I would still think that there might be difference between what people want and where they actually live. But ye, taste seem to be towards natural interiors

That’s super surprising that Boho chic is the most popular in the US, but almost every US house I’ve ever seen incidentally or intentionally posted on social media is just grey polyester carp

This looks like if someone printed out this graph, hung it on the wall and made a picture in direct sunlight with print out's material reflecting some of it

I don't understand why, on my PC the pictures are crystal clear, but after the upload they become a mess and I cannot reupload. But on the web page it looks clear [https://mystofa.com/infogra

So basically if you run an Airbnb go for a Boho Chic + Japandi fusion (these two don't seem to be that different) and most people will like it!
