A Social Listening & Engagement Assistant for Solo Founders

Published on 07/08/2025Marketing Opportunities

Opportunity: Solo founders and indie hackers often find it tough to get those first users, especially on platforms like Reddit where self-promotion is a big no-no. This post and its comments really capture the frustration of trying to get noticed with zero marketing budget. The founder has a marketing SaaS tool but can't effectively promote it on the very platforms where their potential customers hang out. The main need here is a way to join and engage in relevant conversations without getting banned.

Product Form: A SaaS tool that keeps an eye on keywords across Reddit, Hacker News, and other niche communities to find relevant discussions. The key feature would be not just alerting the founder, but also providing context on the community's rules and suggesting helpful, non-promotional ways to engage. This "gentle engagement assistant" could use AI to analyze the original post and draft a valuable comment that solves the user's problem, helping the founder establish themselves as an expert first. This approach helps founders gain traction and feedback without breaking community guidelines.

Expected Revenue: This tool is aimed at the large and growing market of solo entrepreneurs and bootstrapped startups. A tiered subscription model would work well. A basic plan at $19/month for monitoring a few keywords on Reddit, and a pro plan at $49/month for wider community monitoring and AI-powered reply suggestions. Getting just 300 users on the pro plan would bring in around $15,000 MRR.

The struggle is real as a solo founder

So I have built a marketing analytics saas where you just upload the daily or weekly csv data and your dashboard is ready for analysis. You can group campaigns as you like it under an account

I've definitely been in your shoes. I'm a solo founder, building an enterprise level B2B SaaS for lead gen. It is NOT easy and feels like a constant roller coaster. I'm in the feedback phas

I am new to reddit, i started using it while building. I only follow r/Saas most of the time. I did have a look at r/marketing but many have no ads kinds of rules and my post will be deleted.

The irony that it is for marketing. But more helpful tip is probably finding subreddit to get your first customers rather than X or Linked

Totally feel this. I’ve been there and sometimes still am - solo founder, zero marketing budget, posting daily and feeling like I’m shouting into the void. What you’ve built sounds genuinely
