A supply service for unique, artist-designed charms for small jewelry businesses.

The poster is having a tough time selling their handmade earrings on Etsy, with feedback pointing to the main issue: the components are too common, and the market is already flooded. This highlights a need among small craft businesses for unique, standout components.

Product/Service Opportunity: A business that designs and sells one-of-a-kind or limited-edition jewelry components (e.g., charms, beads, findings).

Specific Product Suggestions:

  1. Themed Charm Collections: Small, curated collections of unique charms (e.g., custom-designed enamel, laser-cut acrylics, small-batch metal castings, unique glass beads) based on niche themes (e.g., celestial, cottagecore, art deco, specific mythical creatures) that you won't easily find on mass-market sites.
  2. DIY "Finishing Kits" for Pre-Made Charms: Kits that include high-quality, unique additions (e.g., specialty crystal beads, handcrafted connectors, unique jump rings, small tassels) designed to complement common pre-made charms, allowing crafters to easily elevate and differentiate items they may already source.
  3. Subscription Box for Exclusive Components: A monthly or quarterly subscription box delivering a curated selection of exclusive, limited-run charms and components not available for individual sale, fostering a sense of scarcity and uniqueness for subscribers.

Expected Benefits:

  • For the New Business:
    • Revenue from direct sales of components and kits.
    • Recurring revenue from a subscription model.
    • Potential for B2B sales to established Etsy sellers or small jewelry boutiques looking for exclusive parts.
    • Brand building as a go-to source for unique crafting supplies.
  • For the Crafters (Customers):
    • Ability to create more distinctive and less common products.
    • Better ability to stand out in a saturated market like Etsy.
    • Potential to command higher prices for their finished, more unique items.
    • Inspiration and new creative avenues through access to novel components.

I made these and I think they are cute so I put them on Etsy but no sense interested in them

Totally agree with this, they are adorable! But the style is already very common! As for the other comment on this post, look into adding your own touch, you will find your niche :)

Did you make the mushroom charms? If not you put a pre-made charm on an earwire. I use pre-made charms in my earrings, but I add to them with crystal or stone beads so they look more unique

I wouldn't so much say good or bad, but common. A lot of people sell similar items which makes it hard for you to stand out.
