AI-Powered App Store Review Anomaly Detection Service
The post brings up some serious concerns about manipulated app store ratings, like those scam apps with fake 5-star reviews followed by genuine 1-star reviews. This points to a real need for a service that can spot these anomalies.
- Opportunity: App Review Anomaly Detection Service.
- Product Form: A SaaS tool that monitors app reviews and ratings across the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It would use algorithms to identify suspicious patterns such as:
- A sudden surge of high ratings in a short period, especially for new or unknown apps.
- A big gap between a high overall rating and overwhelmingly negative recent reviews.
- Advanced analysis of reviewer profiles or review text for bot-like activity.
- The tool would send alerts to subscribers (developers, marketers, investors, or even app store integrity teams) about potentially manipulated apps.
- Features could include a dashboard for tracking monitored apps, historical data analysis, and comparative reports.
- Expected Revenue: Subscription-based model.
- Tier 1 (Indie Developer/Small Business): $29-$79/month (monitor a limited number of apps, basic alerts).
- Tier 2 (Agency/Larger Developer): $99-$299/month (monitor more apps, advanced analytics, API access).
- Tier 3 (Enterprise/Market Researchers/App Store Platforms): Custom pricing (e.g., $499+/month or licensing fees for large-scale data access and integration, potentially for identifying apps to delist or investigate).
This service could save users from downloading scam apps, help legitimate developers understand competitor tactics or identify attacks on their own apps, and assist app stores in maintaining platform integrity.

Scam apps with almost 5 stars on the appstore?
Posted by u/JungleLiquor•06/03/2025
Hello! I was wondering if scam apps are actually ones that farmed 5 stars rating, cause all those apps have 100% recent 1 star ratings and and up going 4.3-4.6.
What’s up?
