Based on the provided Reddit post "1kytgux" and its comments, here are potential individuals for collaboration, along with suggestions and expected benefits:

1. The Author (Original Poster of Reddit post "1kytgux")

  • Profile: An author of a romantic fantasy novel who is actively seeking reliable beta reader recommendations. They had a negative experience with a paid beta reader from Fiverr who provided generic feedback, despite the author investing a fair amount. They are clearly motivated to improve their manuscript.
  • Collaboration Potential: High. The author is directly asking for help and is receptive to solutions.
  • Collaboration Suggestions:
    • Provide a curated list of reputable beta readers or professional beta reading services specializing in romantic fantasy. Emphasize services known for detailed, constructive feedback to address their past negative experience.
    • Connect the author with active and vetted writing communities, such as specific subreddits (e.g., r/BetaReaders as suggested by a commenter) or author-focused Discord servers that have established systems for beta reading swaps or requests.
    • If qualified, offer direct beta reading services, highlighting expertise in the romantic fantasy genre and a commitment to in-depth, actionable feedback distinct from their previous experience.
  • Expected Benefits:
    • For the Author: Access to trustworthy and effective beta readers, leading to valuable feedback for manuscript improvement. Saves time and resources by avoiding further unhelpful engagements. Potential to join supportive writing communities.
    • For the Collaborating Entity: Opportunity to directly assist an author in need, building goodwill and establishing expertise. Potential for a positive testimonial or acknowledgment. If providing direct services, access to an early draft of a new novel and possible paid engagement.

2. Commenter 1 (Reddit user who recommended beta reader subreddits and Discord groups)

  • Profile: An active community member who is knowledgeable about resources for writers, specifically for finding beta readers. They provided helpful, actionable advice ("There’s a beta reader sub on here, I’ve found it super helpful! Also recommend googling 'author discord groups' or 'writer discord' and joining one, they always have a beta channel!").
  • Collaboration Potential: Moderate to High. This user is engaged and helpful, suggesting openness to sharing more information or potentially being involved in relevant communities.
  • Collaboration Suggestions:
    • Information Gathering & Resource Sharing: Engage with this commenter to request more specific recommendations for the subreddits or Discord groups they found "super helpful." Their firsthand experience could provide valuable leads for the OP or for a curated resource list.
    • Community Connection/Spotlight: If Commenter 1 is an administrator, moderator, or significantly active member of a specific high-quality beta reading community, explore opportunities to feature or partner with that community. This could involve directing other authors to it or collaborating on content about effective beta reading practices.
    • Potential Referral Source: If Commenter 1 is themselves an experienced beta reader and open to new projects (and their quality can be ascertained), they could become a potential referral.
  • Expected Benefits:
    • For Commenter 1: Recognition for their knowledge and helpfulness. If they are involved in a community, potential for increased visibility or membership for that community. If they are a beta reader, potential for new opportunities.
    • For the Collaborating Entity: Access to specific, experience-backed recommendations for beta reading communities. Potential to identify a knowledgeable contact or partner for future resource sharing or community engagement initiatives. Enhances the ability to provide well-rounded support to authors like the OP.

Hey! I’m really sorry to hear you had that kind of experience — sadly, there are a lot of generic beta reads floating around, especially from people using AI without care or personal touch.

DM me. I’m an editor, but I also do Beta reads when business is slow (and it currently is). Romance and fantasy are my specialties.

I’m always so confused on this. Are they using ai for the inline comments too or did you just get a readers report?
