Durable Aftermarket Pocket Clips for Flashlights with Failing OEM Clips

Product/Service Opportunity Analysis:

  • Identified Need/Problem: Olight Arkfeld Pro flashlight users, along with those using other Olight models like the i5t plus, are having a lot of trouble with the stock pocket clips. The clips are flimsy, bend easily, break, and the screws that hold them in place often come loose, even when thread locker is used. This leads to a lot of frustration and the need for frequent replacements.

  • User Quotes Indicating Need:

    • "This is my third pocket clip. Flimsy. Screws always come loose..."
    • "Olight pocket clips generally suck, in my opinion. I went through five for my i5t plus..."
    • "My pocket clip bent backward and then one day it snapped off."
    • "The pocket clip is way better on the Ultra compared to the Pro. I bent my Pro with a seatbelt, and it hasn't been the same since." (Suggests a desire for a better clip on the Pro).
    • "What options are out there to upgrade..."
    • "I know there’s a guy on eBay who makes titanium ones." (Shows awareness and interest in aftermarket solutions).

Specific Product Suggestion:

  • Product: High-Durability Aftermarket Pocket Clips for Olight Flashlights (specifically targeting models like the Arkfeld Pro, i5t plus, and potentially others based on further research).

  • Features:

    • Material: Made from a much stronger and more resilient material than the OEM clips, such as Grade 5 Titanium (as suggested by a commenter) or high-strength spring steel with an appropriate coating (e.g., PVD, Cerakote) for wear resistance and aesthetics.
    • Design:
      • Improved geometry to resist bending and snapping under common stresses (e.g., catching on a seatbelt, everyday carry snags).
      • A more robust screw interface or a redesigned screw type/thread pattern that is less likely to loosen. Consider including high-quality screws and a small vial of strong, removable thread locker with the clip.
      • Potentially offer options for deep carry or different retention strengths.
    • Compatibility: Precisely engineered to fit specific Olight models without any modifications to the flashlight body.
  • Marketing Angles: "Stop replacing, start upgrading," "The last pocket clip you'll need for your Olight," "Secure your investment."

Expected Benefit:

  • For the User:

    • Enhanced Durability & Reliability: Significantly reduces the likelihood of the clip bending, breaking, or detaching.
    • Improved Usability: Provides a more secure and confident carry experience, preventing the flashlight from being easily dislodged or lost.
    • Cost Savings (Long-term): Eliminates the need to repeatedly buy flimsy OEM replacement clips.
    • Peace of Mind: Users no longer have to worry about the frequent failure of their pocket clip.
    • Maintained Aesthetics/Function: A well-made aftermarket clip can enhance the look and feel of the flashlight.
  • For the Business:

    • Addresses a Clear Market Gap: Fulfills a stated need from a passionate user base (flashlight enthusiasts).
    • Premium Product Potential: Users are willing to pay for quality and durability, especially for accessories for their valued gear. Titanium or custom-designed steel clips can command a premium price.
    • Brand Loyalty: Providing a high-quality solution can build a strong reputation within the flashlight community.
    • Scalability: If successful with Olight, the concept could be expanded to other flashlight brands known for similar clip issues.

This is a direct parallel to the example provided, identifying a weak component on a popular product and suggesting a robust aftermarket alternative.

This is my third pocket clip. Flimsy. Screws always come loose no matter how much or what kind of thread locker I use. I absolutely love this thing. But I will for sure be upgrading for the c

The pocket clip is 100x better in the ultra over the pro. I bent my pro with a seatbelt and it hasn’t been the same since.

I know there’s a guy on eBay who makes titanium ones. In reality I should stop bitching and just buy it. If I remember right it’s pretty good looking as well.

That's a bummer. Here's a coupon code if you go direct from the website or app.

Olight pocket clips in general suck imo. I went through 5 for my i5t plus in the 4 years I had that. Ended up getting an aftermarket one and it lasted longer.

You can 100% buy aftermarket clips that are much better and just swap the clip instead of buying a whole new light

What options are out there to upgrade, I ask because I’ve not had any of the issues you shared…. But I like to needlessly upgrade things.

My pocket clip bent backward and then one day it snapped off.
