Can you use an old polyester throw as batting for a quilt, obviously amateur?

i dont see why not assuming its not too much to easily sew through but it would probably end up quite a bit heavier than your average quilt

you can, but they're a chore to needle, both by hand and by machine.
My recommendation would be to make a tied quilt. I've done that several times for sad, ragged wool blankets, and it work
