Highly Durable Optical Lenses and Components for High-Power Laser Systems

Specific Product Suggestions:

  1. Ultra-Durable Laser Optics: Develop and manufacture laser lenses, mirrors, and protective windows using advanced materials like sapphire, diamond, or specialized ceramics, or cutting-edge coatings such as multi-layer dielectric coatings with high damage thresholds and anti-fouling properties. These components are designed to withstand higher power densities, thermal shock, and contamination in laser processing environments like cutting, welding, and engraving.

  2. Enhanced Integrated Cooling Systems for Optics: Design and produce more efficient, compact, and reliable active cooling systems, such as microfluidic cooling or advanced thermoelectric coolers, that can be directly integrated into optical mounts or the components themselves. These systems would offer superior thermal management, preventing overheating and subsequent damage or performance degradation.

  3. Modular and Easily Serviceable Optical Assemblies: Create optical component assemblies, like lens cells and mirror mounts, that are designed for quick and easy replacement or servicing of the optical element or its protective covers. This minimizes downtime for users and could include pre-aligned, field-replaceable optical modules.

Expected Benefit: Supplying these high-performance optical components can cater to the industrial laser market (manufacturing, material processing), research institutions, and the growing advanced hobbyist/prosumer segment. The primary benefits include:

  • For End-Users: Significant reduction in operational costs due to less frequent replacement of expensive optical components, increased uptime and productivity of laser systems, improved process consistency and reliability, and potentially enhanced safety by minimizing risks associated with catastrophic optic failure.
  • For Suppliers: Opportunity to capture a high-value niche market with strong profit margins on specialized, durable parts. Building a reputation for reliability and performance can lead to sustained demand and market leadership, with potential for recurring revenue through sales of replacement components or servicing.

Not going to even look at a picture or click the link. Just a hunch… but is StyroPyro up to his evil genius ways again?

its way less watts and way less time to burn your eyes out with a laser. about 5mW (0.005 watt), which is the legal limit in most countries, will blind you in about 10 secs of exposure. while
u/randynumbergenerator
His t levels are also insanely high, apparently.
u/sioux612
Or his video where he connected a bunch of batteries in parallel and then lays on them  Yes I know its super low voltage and it just happens to produce a couple kilo Amps, but him laying on

Probably because it's a laser array, not a single 250W beam. Each beam is well below 100W and is spatially separated when passing through the lens, so the power density is lower.

yea of course its him

Pretty much any wavelength of laser will cause blindness at 1w. However, some wavelengths will cause blindness and permanent damage much sooner. I would really worry about a 250w laser refl

DHS would like to know your location.

Ya his last health update said he's doing ok, but the doctors still don't know what's up with him. I think he's just built different and nothing is wrong with him.

Pretty much any wavelength of laser will cause blindness at 1w. However, some wavelengths will cause blindness and permanent damage much sooner. I would really worry about a 250w laser refl
u/aldeayeah
A 250W laser. Kinda quaint for industrial standards, but absolutely terrifying as a handheld device.
u/sioux612
Or his video where he connected a bunch of batteries in parallel and then lays on them  Yes I know its super low voltage and it just happens to produce a couple kilo Amps, but him laying on

Yep
u/pelrun
Probably because it's a laser array, not a single 250W beam. Each beam is well below 100W and is spatially separated when passing through the lens, so the power density is lower.
u/Cocacola612
Yep
u/CaterpillarHungry607
Enough current to melt zinc in under a second…
u/Drake-Wolfe
Not going to even look at a picture or click the link. Just a hunch… but is StyroPyro up to his evil genius ways again?

yea of course its him

its way less watts and way less time to burn your eyes out with a laser. about 5mW (0.005 watt), which is the legal limit in most countries, will blind you in about 10 secs of exposure. while
u/seamus_mc
You can pretty easily melt tungsten with a regular 110 wall outlet, TIG welding you regularly ball your tungsten tip by melting it before welding aluminum. But this thing he built is terrif

as someone that uses laser cutters, I'm extremely impressed that his lens is surviving. I use lab grade front surface mirrors and active cooled gallium arsenide lenses and they get damaged

Yeah, the laser pointers you can annoy your cat or hold a presentation with are like 0.03W or something.

It goes a little further than titanium. It fucking MELTS TUNGSTEN. LOL.

Styropyro is a different species. He picks up random stuff and learns them very quickly then proceeds to make some crazy dangerous thing nobody should have.
