Job market demand identified for Agile Scrum Master roles in software development.

Published on 06/11/2025Hiring & Talent Acquisition Insights

A conversation centered around a potentially problematic job posting also highlighted the "Agile Scrum Master" role. People chimed in, explaining that this position is like a project manager but specifically for small software development teams. Key skills mentioned include being well-versed in Agile methodologies and having a solid grasp of the Scrum framework. It's worth noting that Scrum certifications are available and can be quite valuable, with some educational institutions even providing pathways to get them. For job seekers, especially those with project management experience in the tech sector, pursuing Scrum certifications could open up opportunities. They might then aim for roles like "Scrum Master" or "Agile Project Manager," using their enhanced qualifications to boost their career prospects in software development.

Report them. You could also actually sue.

Out of curiosity, I always thought this was legal to do. I’ve seen this a ton and it’s always ticked me off. Should I be reporting everything I see like this?

What the hell is an agile scrum master?
u/Relevant_Beyond_5058
Yea it's kind of like a cave man looking for a woman. "I AM LOOKING ONLY FEMALE CNIDIDATES." Go ahead and swipe on this one.

Cndidates

That doesn't look like a legit job dude...there's typos and stuff
u/PhDinFineArts
Is it W2 or 1099? If the latter, I believe such labor protections unfortunately do not apply.

Why does every blur/censor/not include the company names

Also discriminatory unless there is some kind of job requirement to be female…. Like a female only prison or something.

\>working with kids especially in live-in residential roles how is that not discrimination to prefer women for that? it seems obviously discriminatory to me

BFOQ Bona Fide Occupational Qualification Otherwise it’s very likely discriminatory in the US.

Like a project manager for a small team of software devs
u/Hungry-Slit
Yeah. Being female or male is not a bona fide qualification for this role.
u/RiotingMoon
Yeap

Report them to the state department of labor office
u/JasonAQuest
The legal term for this is a *Bona Fide Occupational Qualification*. If it's a job that *only* a woman or *only* a man could do, employers can require that. That's obviously not the case here
u/Mojojojo3030
Well apparently I’m headed to downvote town here, which whatever, but I believe the tech envt is already heavily discriminatory against women, and laws aside, I have no problem with tipping t

Yes. Show no mercy to discriminatory practices.

Scrum is a development method. It's also something you can get certified in, my college was offering certain students a free path to getting the certifications because there's cost involved.
u/AleksandrNevsky
Oh they're dumb enough to put that in writing? That's an easy discrimination report right there. Never say the quiet parts outloud.
u/PaintingPotatoes
Is this really discrimination though? I've seen postings for stuff like "Female EMT recruits only" due to the massive lack of women within the field. To my understanding, my city was sued for

Hiring on the basis of female/male should only be in certain circumstances. An example I know of is caregiving, such as a nursing assistant for a female where a male caregiver would cause is

I was scanning the comments in hopes of finding out myself 🤷‍♀️
u/cyberentomology
They’re only Scrum Masters if they come from the Agile region of Silicon Valley. Anything else is just a sparkling project manager.
u/mattinsatx
Report them to the labor dept.
