Nanny seeking work; comments suggest agencies, platforms, and alternative roles.

Published on 06/04/2025Hiring & Talent Acquisition Insights

Analysis Result:

An experienced childcare provider (3 years) is urgently looking for a new job after an unexpected layoff, facing a challenging market (only 5 responses from 70 applications). Community suggestions highlight opportunities through agencies like 'Pink Nannies' and 'Quality Nannies', and platforms such as 'care.com', 'Sittercity', and 'UrbanSitter'. Alternative roles like remote tutoring, housekeeping, front desk positions at hotels, or part-time night shifts at gas stations, hotels, or diners were strongly recommended as viable income sources. These alternatives are particularly relevant because they can accommodate her own childcare needs, a key concern. Employment at a daycare center was also suggested, though it depends on her child securing a spot. These options offer clear directions for resume submission and job applications.

Hot Skills, Tools, and Qualifications:

  • Skills: Childcare (3 years experience), potentially tutoring, customer service, housekeeping.
  • Tools/Platforms: Nanny agencies (Pink Nannies, Quality Nannies), online job platforms (care.com, Sittercity, UrbanSitter), remote tutoring platforms (EPQD).
  • Qualifications: Verifiable 3 years of nannying experience, ability to pass background checks (mentioned for Sittercity and care.com).

Potential Job Opportunities:

  • Nanny (via agencies and dedicated platforms)
  • Babysitter (via platforms like care.com, UrbanSitter)
  • Remote Tutor
  • Housekeeper
  • Front Desk Agent (hotels)
  • Night Shift Worker (gas stations, hotels, diners)
  • Daycare Center Employee

Resume Submission Directions:

  • Target nanny agencies: Pink Nannies, Quality Nannies.
  • Utilize online platforms: care.com (for nannying and housekeeping), UrbanSitter, Sittercity.
  • Explore remote tutoring platforms: EPQD.
  • Apply for alternative roles: Hotels (front desk), gas stations/diners (night shifts), daycare centers.
  • Highlight: 3 years of nannying experience, reliability, flexibility, and skills relevant to the specific role sought.

Expected Benefits/Gains:

  • Securing immediate income to alleviate financial strain from the layoff.
  • Finding employment that may offer flexibility to manage childcare for her own child (especially night shifts or remote work).
  • Expanding the job search beyond a competitive nanny market to increase employment prospects.
  • Leveraging transferable skills from nannying into related or alternative fields.

I used to remote tutor under EDPQ  (or it's EPQD), it can be hard to get students sometimes because they're quite over hired but maybe you can look into them?

Have you tried applying to a daycare center that will allow your child to attend? Unfortunately the nanny market is a reflection of the rest of the job market 🥲

I believe care.com has not only nanny positions but housekeeping positions as well. I’m going to pay for another background check (I’ve paid for one on sittercity as well) and see what that’s

Hi, try urbansitter. It’s similar to care.com but in app form. There’s one time babysitting jobs or repetitive ones. I’ve used it as a babysitter and it’s solid

It does ease my mind a bit. I hope people would just see it as me doing whatever I could to make money, legally of course lol. I could definitely look into that. Thank you, that hasn’t cro

I have applied for front desk at hotels. I will expand my job search. A gas station job for a few hours a night wouldn’t be horrible and I’d be bringing in something.

Where are you located? Have you tried working with nanny agencies?

You could do part time nightshift work at like a gas station, hotel or diner? That way you can sleep atleast a little and watch the kid/job hunt during the day.
