Provide Constructive Banner Design Feedback for Beginner's Website

Published on 06/05/2025KOL Promotion Opportunities

Okay, let's break down this Reddit post for potential collaboration opportunities.

Analysis of the Reddit Post:

  • User (Original Poster - OP): A self-proclaimed beginner in graphic design.
  • Need: Seeking feedback and improvement suggestions for a website banner they created using Photopea.
  • Platform: They have a website (though the current link is outdated and relocated, implying it exists or is being actively worked on).
  • Community Engagement: The OP is actively seeking help. Other users are providing specific design feedback (coherence, minimalism, kerning, font choices, communication of "advanced").

Identified Potential Collaborators:

  1. The Original Poster (OP) of redditid: 1l3qqq3:

    • Reasoning: The OP is the most direct candidate. They have a clear need (design improvement for their website banner), are open to feedback, and are actively working on a web presence. As a "beginner," they are likely receptive to expert help.
    • Willingness: High. They are explicitly asking for help.
  2. Helpful Commenters (e.g., users who posted comments like "Don’t know, if you go with this just make sure the rest of the website’s design language/aesthetic is coherent..." or "Maybe focus on the space between letters a bit..."):

    • Reasoning: These individuals show an interest in design and a willingness to provide constructive criticism. While not necessarily "influencers" in a broad sense, they are active and knowledgeable community members within this niche.
    • Willingness: Medium. They are already engaging, but a more formal collaboration would be a separate ask.

Collaboration Suggestions & Expected Benefits:

For the Original Poster (OP):

  • Collaboration Suggestion 1: Pro-Bono Banner Redesign/Critique Session

    • Approach: Reach out to the OP (if their Reddit username is identifiable or if you can find their website and contact them). Offer a complimentary, detailed critique of their current banner and provide actionable visual suggestions. Optionally, offer to do a quick redesign or refinement of their existing banner.
    • Expected Benefits for You (KOL Expert):
      • Content Generation: Document the process (with OP's permission) – before/after visuals, a short case study, or even a video of the redesign process. This can be shared on your platforms to showcase your expertise.
      • Goodwill & Brand Building: Helping a beginner can generate positive sentiment and position you as a supportive expert in the design community.
      • Testimonial: A satisfied OP might provide a valuable testimonial.
      • Potential Long-Term Relationship: If their website grows, further collaboration opportunities might arise (e.g., full website design consultation, branding work).
  • Collaboration Suggestion 2: "Design Feedback Live Stream/Video"

    • Approach: If you have a platform (YouTube, Twitch, etc.), invite the OP to submit their banner for a live review session where you (and potentially other designers) provide feedback and perhaps make live edits.
    • Expected Benefits for You:
      • Engaging Content: Live design critiques are popular and demonstrate expertise in real-time.
      • Community Interaction: Allows your audience to learn alongside the OP.
      • Showcases Practical Skills: More dynamic than a static case study.

For the Helpful Commenters:

  • Collaboration Suggestion 1: Feature Their Insights (with credit)

    • Approach: If you create content around design principles (e.g., blog posts, social media threads), you could reference the insightful comments (anonymously or by Reddit username if appropriate and common practice in that subreddit). For instance, "Great point from a Reddit user on the importance of kerning for wordmarks..."
    • Expected Benefits for You:
      • Community Acknowledgment: Shows you're listening to and value community discussions.
      • Relatable Content: Grounds your expert advice in real-world beginner struggles and peer feedback.
  • Collaboration Suggestion 2: (More speculative) Invite them as Guest Commentators/Panelists

    • Approach: If a commenter consistently provides high-quality, articulate feedback across multiple posts (requiring more research beyond this single post), and if their expertise aligns, you could invite them to participate in a discussion panel, a joint blog post, or a segment in your content focused on common design mistakes or peer review best practices.
    • Expected Benefits for You:
      • Diverse Perspectives: Adds credibility and variety to your content.
      • Cross-Promotion Potential: If they have their own small following or platform.

Overall Expected Benefits for You (KOL Expert):

  • Demonstrate Expertise: Directly applying your knowledge to a real-world problem.
  • Build Authority: Positioning yourself as a go-to resource for design advice and solutions.
  • Increase Engagement: Collaborations, especially those involving community members, tend to drive interaction.
  • Content Creation: Provides rich material for your own channels.
  • Networking: Potentially connecting with an emerging designer (the OP) or other knowledgeable individuals in the field.

Priority: The OP is the primary target for direct collaboration due to their expressed need. The commenters are secondary, more for acknowledging community expertise or potential future, smaller-scale collaborations if they show consistent insightful engagement.

I am not big on graphic design at all and used photopea to make this. Does it look good for a beginner? I made it for my website. (You can google it but the link is outdated and was relocated

My thoughts exactly. “Advanced” but it uses text-in-image

The combination with the monospace font below is strange. And it for sure doesn't communicate "advanced" to me.

I decided to whip up this banner in photopea for my website. I want to know if there is anything I should change about it to make it more appealing or what-not. I am a beginner and don't real

Eh. It's a word mark for sure. Maybe focus on the space between letters a bit, it gets wider as the logo goes on.

Don’t know, if you go with this just make sure the rest of the website’s design language/aesthetic is coherent. This looks somewhat minimalistic so I’d lean into that while still having eleme

Thank you for the advice. I haven't really done any digital design before at all so I have no idea what I'm really doing but yea.

What I like: I've liked that you've picked a fancy font to add some character to it. What I would change: I'd use a different font. You've used an old-style font, which doesn't fit with t

No, it doesn't look good for a beginner. * The name is terrible—I assume it's supposed to be Gaming Realm, but it's written so it reads G-ming Realm. Is there a reason for this unconventiona

1/10 It’s okay if you’re not a designer, but if you’re serious about your website you should hire one! Your margins, sizing, typography, and font choices leave a lot to be desired.

I made it like that on purpose so that it wouldn't get flagged due to the name in certain organizations/schools. Also thank you for the advice. I have never really done any digital design bef

Different font choices, less bottom text (no need to repeat the name twice).

Hey, for a first attempt, it's a solid start. Maybe play around with the spacing a bit more next time, but good job diving in and making something.

Alright, thank you
