Oh cool! That’s great to know, I stupidly invested in some pretty expensive players to begin my hobby with without testing the waters, so I appreciate the reply!

maybe engraving? or permanent markers on a label? Iirc cassettes tend to seat into most players, sometimes slide. So the dimensions are important. Any paint would almost certainly flake/chip/

Used to write on tapes with paint pens and painted several with model paints, never once had an issue. Back in the day we'd do it when making a bootleg copy or a mix tape, you shouldn't have

All honestly really cool ideas, might give them all a shot and see if it works :) do you think a label could cover the side of a tape without causing issues? One that I could draw on?

When I was in high school my buddy had an entire wall of cassettes and a closet full of albums. (His dad was a deejay and gave him tons of stuff.) I'd give him blank tapes and he'd copy music

Oooh an airbrush could be my best option 🤔 airbrush paint fuses with the plastic?? That’s interesting to know! Do you think that would be a valid choice to then airbrush designs on top?

Personally I wouldn’t really want to try and play a painted tape because I’d be afraid of the paint flaking off and getting stuck in the tape laying mechanism. It might not be flaking now, b

That’s very valid, thanks for bringing that up, do you think a label covering the surface of the tape would be okay? Something I could sketch on??

Shouldn't have a problem at all as long as the paint you're using doesn't peel off and get stuck in the mechanism. Let's see it!

Yes, you can make a template for your tape labels and sketch/draw/doodle away. Just make sure the holes aren't covered by the sticker. And probably don't use paint on the label.

Use an airbrush with lacquer paints so that you can put on a thin coat of paint that fuses with the plastic somewhat. The thinner your paint coat, the less you have to worry about it chipping

Honestly I have / had so many ideas for creating art of my favourite bands but I don’t think it’s an option 😔
