Shift from Athleisure to Elevated Comfort Casual Wear

Published on 07/28/2025Trend Spotting / Early Adopter Signals

There's a noticeable sentiment shift in the comments criticizing 'athleisure' (sweatpants, gym pants, 'house comfies') as inappropriate or insufficient for everyday 'outfits' outside of working out. Many users suggest 'elevating' the look with items like jeans, chinos, belts, and more structured casual shirts, even while maintaining comfort. This indicates a potential market demand for comfortable yet more polished and presentable casual wear that isn't strictly fitness-oriented. Brands could capitalize on this by offering lines of 'elevated comfort' clothing – comfortable fabrics in more tailored or 'put-together' designs, bridging the gap between athleisure and traditional casual wear. This appeals to consumers who prioritize comfort but want to appear more polished for daily activities beyond the home or gym.

I would not consider these outfits. They are good comfy lounging around the house clothes.

No, you bought some sweatpants and tshirts. Lmao.

Take them back, please!

Looking good brother, comfort is key imo
u/GuineapigPriestess71
Definitely not Hawaiian shirts with those camo pants, however cammo pants with a plain shirt with no print. Also, the Hawaiian shirts with some like nice cargo shorts would be fine.
u/julianazor
This is just items of clothing.... None of these are outfits. 2pc pjs are more refined
u/thetrueg-dog
Ill try that, thanks

Camo pants with 2 (preferably) or 4 shirt would look so good! I like it though. You’ve got a relaxed/lounge style.

I would return #1. Or wear the two pieces separately. 4 is the only one I like. And the pants of 3 are fine.

They're not worn out, is what these things have going for them. They don't really cohere, as outfits. It's a whole bunch of house comfies, the clothes you can't wait to jump into when you

Hawaiian shirt with khakis, orange shirt or t-shirt with camo, gray polo with blue jogger, and any of the shirts go with the gray joggers.

I personally wouldn’t consider these full “outfits”- they are all somewhat athleisure. When you aren’t working out, consider wearing jeans or chinos with a belt- it will elevate your look!

I like outfit 4 best! The colors suit you. I’d pair with white sneakers. Keep at it! Feels good to find things you love that you feel comfortable in!

I’m not a fan of gym pants outside of the gym. Unless you are a fitness Addict that clearly is not the case. So leave the fitness attire for the gym and wear some normal pants and sho
