Is this real or am I dreaming? The election? The blue wave we needed. 🌊

* Zohran Mamdani, a 34yo Democrat and self-proclaimed socialist, is Mayor-elect of NYC. * Prop 50 in California passed, okaying new Congressional maps that will help Democrats * Rep. Mikie Sherrill (*a woman* and former Navy pilot) is Governor-elect of New Jersey * Abigail Spanberger is Governor-Elect of Virginia (the first female governor for the Commonwealth) ... And I know there were so many more local "wins" too. I'm also thrilled to announce that Cory Bowman, the evangelical pastor brother of VP James Donald Bowman, *will NOT be the next Mayor of Cincinnati!* He essentially got the "friends and family" vote and that's it. So back to Florida he goes (we hope). How did your districts fair? I think we all need some good news. Edit: added emphasis

Tonight’s election results hammer home the irrelevance of Dem party navel gazing in this sub.

Progressive v moderate. Move left v move center. Abundance v anti-oligarchy. Do trans issues matter?(unequivocally NO). Biden and Harris had bad vibes in 2024 due to three years of inflation and immigrants bussed up from Texas and Florida to blue suburbs. Now Trump is in office and the economy isn’t any better (is actually worse) and while Trump is deporting many many people, the viciousness turns off normies. He and the GOP have the bad vibes now such that these races aren’t particularly close. Even Georgia flipped two GOP statewide seats. Mamdani, Sherril, and Spanberger are going to win by double digits. Jay Jones survived his scandal. I would agree that relying on vibe backlash is not a sound electoral strategy, but in the meantime it explains things much more than anything else.

Is it ok to talk about the elections on here?

It was quite an insane day for elections. Democrats won everything and republicans lost everything. Spanberger and Sherill won Governor races in VA and NJ, but more importantly, Jay Jones looked dead and won the Attorney general seat. Yes, the guy who looked like he was cooked with the leaked texts somehow won. And Zohran is likely getting 50% of the vote and Cuomo will suffer a humiliating defeat in his pathetic campaign. Mamdani is doing wonderfully and the fact that an open socialist has gotten so many votes is insane. It’s quite awesome seeing him go from having no shot to becoming mayor by a comfortable margin. I know this is a tankie subreddit, and this isn’t a tankie topic, but I just wanted to relay all of this stuff to you guys since the elections are rather important for a lot of reasons. Mainly because many people will be affected by who’s in power especially with trump being president and this does show how people are rebuking what he’s done. And you know that a bunch of people will be trying to fuck Zohran over when he starts his term as mayor due to him being a socialist. But even then, this was a great day for elections. I know we don’t like Dems, but compared to an openly fascist Republican Party, it’s only good they won.

Blue Wave

Votes are still coming in but so far it looks like a blue wave is happening. This is why voting is so important. Imagine if we did this last November. But the fight is not over. All this is doing is giving us more to fight with. Let's keep up the momentum and take back our country.

Just Under the Wire

Got my vote in right at 8:00PM. Great to see so many people at the polling location.
